Artist Submissions
Interested in working with TNL?

We’d love to hear from you! Every year we hire a seasonal workforce of nearly 50 people to run the Gros Morne Theatre Festival. In addition to industry standard compensation, we’ll also provide accommodation in Cow Head for the duration of your contract. In addition to working in our brand-new facility, the Nurse Myra Bennett Centre for the Performing Arts, you’ll get to live and work in beautiful Gros Morne National Park!
Actors
We hire a repertory company consisting of 8-12 actors every summer. Each member of the acting company takes on at least two different productions and performs them throughout the season.
Our casting process occurs in December and January. We hold general auditions in St. John’s and Corner Brook where we ask actors to prepare two short pieces (one of which can be a song) to share with an audition panel. Details about our next round of auditions will be posted here once they are available.
You can submit an application for an audition at any time by emailing [email protected]. Your application should include a headshot and CV (in one file). The subject line of your email should include your last name, the year and the city in which you wish to audition.
We are happy to accept audition requests from across Canada, however, priority will be given to Newfoundlanders, Labradorians and other Atlantic Canadian artists.
Please note: While we will accommodate virtual auditions via zoom, we do not accept self-tapes.
Designers
The Gros Morne Theatre Festival creative team always features professional costume, set, lighting, sound, projection, and props designers. If you’re a professional designer working in a performance industry and are interested in working at the Gros Morne Theatre Festival, get in touch!
You can send a CV and portfolio to our artistic producer Nicholas Leno at [email protected].
Production staff
We hire a seasonal production staff of up to eight people to operate lighting and sound equipment, build sets and props and construct costumes. Contracts generally span mid-May to mid-September.
Production staff are hired in February and March, but we are happy to accept submissions year-round. If you’re a professional technician, scenic carpenter, head of wardrobe, scenic painter, props master, or stage manager, please get in touch! Send a resume to our technical director Kyle Ahluwalia at [email protected].
Playwrights and script submissions
Are you a professional playwright with a completed script that is ready for production? Maybe you have a work in progress that could benefit from a new play development workshop? Or perhaps you have an idea you want to propose to us as a commission?
We are happy to accept script submissions and proposals year-round. However, scripts and proposals will generally be reviewed in September of every year. While we do our best to connect with everyone who submitsted material, unfortunately, the large volume of material we receive each year may prevent that from happening.
We are happy to connect with writers from across Canada; however, we aim to support Newfoundland and Labrador playwrights and other Atlantic Canadian writers.
Please send your materials to our Artistic Producer Nicholas Leno [email protected]. If you are sending a full script, please include a brief synopsis and a development / production history. Please indicate in your submission why you believe TNL is a good fit for your project.
